The Band
The band consist of Chris Newman, singer/songwriter and rhythm guitar. Angela Grace, flute and vocals. Loxahatchee Al, lead guitar, Missi Peterson , guitar and vocals, Ray Carson, bass, Jefferson Star, drums. The band has become a machine of music. The new sound we are calling Jamerican Rock
Jamerican Music
Chris Newman, In the Moment is ‘Jamerican Rock’ featuring original songs and classic oldies in a new way. The bands name describes both the music and the outlook of the band members. Their songs are a combination of different styles and genres of music with each member contributing elements from their musical background. Combining styles from rock, reggae, folk, country and blues, the songs grow into a unique identity. Often in live performances, the songs will expand with the band members exploring new ideas within the structure of the song, caught in the moment of creativity.
In The Moment is based in High Springs Florida and is the result of a musical journey, both as individuals and as a band. It started when singer/ songwriter Chris Newman, who worked mainly as a solo acoustic act, began recruiting fellow musicians to join him on stage at the annual Farm to Family Concert. Originally called Chris Newman and Friends, the lineup included bassist Ray Carson and Angela Hyland on flute. Over the next two years, these three musicians were the core of the band as various players came and went. A band has a unique identity comprised of all the players styles and experience and it take just the right combination for it to work. Drummer Jeffery Fuller became the final link to the rhythm section. Guitarist Missi Peterson added the right style and experience to complete the bands identity.
Singer/songwriter and rhythm guitarist Chris Newman was born in Jamaica and brings a Caribbean influence to the music as well as folk/rock elements from an acoustic solo career. Lead guitarist “Loxahatchee" Al brings a background of rock to the mix that combines with the melodies of flutist Angela Hyland to provide the lead, weaving their melodies through the songs while the solid beat of the rhythm section drives the songs. Bassist Ray Carson brings elements from Jazz, Blues and Rock to the mix while drummer Jeffery Fuller provides a solid but intricate styling from his roots in jazz, rock and international music. Our newest member Missi Peterson brings her rockin guitar and vocals.
In the Studio
